The precision timing of exam season in the Northern Hemisphere is cruel. The hibernation of the students coincides with when the city really comes to life. As soon as you start having to knuckle down and try to make sense of your hastily-scrawled lecture notes from the past year, the sun decides to come out. And instead of being motivational, the nice weather just puts you into a lazy, unproductive trance. Suddenly Durham is all lit-up and there are families on the river in paddle boats and eating ice cream and looking happy.
The month of November got off to a very good start. The unseasonably good weather we had in the first few weeks in combination with the last of the autumn colour made Durham look beautiful.
